Myofascial Cupping in Saskatoon
A Different Approach To Soft Tissue Tension
Myofascial cupping offers a different way to reach the body’s tight spots. Using suction rather than compression, this technique lifts and separates fascia and underlying tissue to help reduce restriction, support circulation, and encourage the release of tension patterns. Registered Massage Therapist Josh Bobowski thoughtfully integrates cupping into your care and adapts the technique to your individual needs.

How Myofascial Cupping Works
Myofascial cupping uses specially designed cups applied to the skin to create a vacuum effect. Instead of pressing down into the tissue, the cups gently lift the skin and fascia upward, creating space between tissue layers. This decompression may support circulation and fluid movement while helping reduce feelings of restriction and tightness.
Our RMT may use static cupping, where cups remain in place, or gliding cupping, where the cups move along the muscle to address a broader area. The approach depends on your goals and how your body responds during the session.
What This Method May Help With
Patients are often surprised by the results, particularly when other approaches have plateaued. Benefits commonly experienced include:
- Relief from deep fascial tightness and restriction
- Improved tissue mobility and range of motion
- Increased circulation
- Reduced muscle fatigue and soreness
- Softening of areas that feel restricted or tight
- A sense of lightness and decompression in treated areas
Conditions Commonly Addressed
Myofascial cupping is commonly used for people dealing with chronic soft tissue restriction and movement limitations. It may be incorporated into care for upper and lower back tightness, IT band discomfort, hip restriction, shoulder tension, plantar fasciitis, post-injury scar tissue, and areas of persistent tightness that have not responded well to direct pressure techniques.
Who May Benefit From Myofascial Cupping
This technique may be a good fit for people who have tried other forms of massage without lasting improvement, individuals managing chronic fascial tightness or restricted movement, those recovering from soft tissue injuries or surgical scarring, and active patients whose training creates ongoing tension in specific areas. If you’re unsure whether cupping is right for you, Josh is happy to discuss it during your visit.
